The time between (1837-1901), known as the Victorian Era.
2.During this period what was the women's most popular occupation?
Most women were house wives.
3.Were the other occupations available for women during this time?
Some wives stayed at home and earned money. This was by farming; some farm wives earned money from selling butter, milk, and other farm products that they produced on their farm. 25% of all black women were part of the working force and worked for wages. Most of these women were a maid, nurse, laundress, teacher, psychiatrist, or social worker.
4.Where did men believe women should be?
The men of the Victorian Era believed that a women's place was at home.
Completely useless.
5.Describe the way a woman should dress.
They wore corsets, high heeled shoes, long skirts, and other heavy clothing.
6.Did women travel alone?
No, there has to travelled with her husband or with the family.
7.What is the name of the woman that loved to travel?
Isabella Bird.
8.Did she always travel with a companion?
When she is a child, she traveled with her father.
Eventually she developed a passion for travel and traveled by herself.

Even though she had a physical disability, she still was able to overcome this and become a respectable Victorian women traveler.

Isabella traveled all over the world to places such as Japan, China, Korea, Persia, Tibet, and the United States.

Wealthy women in society did not have a very difficult life. Their day consisted of activities like sewing, visiting family/friends/paupers, and reading, writing letters, entertaining visitors, and dancing.

Middle class women can almost be considered guides to the lower class women.
13.What disadvantages did the women of the lower class have?
Widowed, divorced, single or when the father died left her with nothing not land or money.
14.What was believed to cure sexual transmitted diseases?
This may be due to the fact that some people believed that venereal diseases could be cured by sexual intercourse with children.
15.Why were women becoming prostitutes?
Prostitutes made a large sum of money; it was the number one reason that women became prostitutes.

The father would want a male child to give his land and money to.
17.What did this tell you about the ideals of the people of this time?
At that time people are ignorant, because woman, man, rich, poor are the same every want looking for the same money, jobs, and wealthy life.

Women had very few rights. The women are useless and not have any right that what the people think at that time.
