Kinds of Sentences

There are four types of sentences.  Sentences are classified according to what they do.

Declarative Sentence:  Presents information or states a fact...
                                   January is the first month of the year.

Interrogative Sentence:  Asks a questions???
                                     What time is it?

Imperative Sentence:  Gives a command or states a request...
                                  Clean your room.

Exclamatory Sentence:  Expresses strong feeling !!!
                                     Ouch! That hurts.

Instructions:  Identify the following sentences as Declarative D, Interrogative I, Imperative IM,  or Exclamatory EX.

_____  The book signing starts at 2:00p.m.
_____  Have you ever seen a giraffe?

_____  Are you sure?
_____  We will begin reading the novel next week.
_____  That was a delicious dinner.

_____  Make sure to turn off the computer.
_____  Just a minute young lady.
_____  What are you planning to do this weekend?
_____  Wow! What a beautiful baby.
